I write to you with wonderful news. My eldest sister, Mary, is getting married, and I dearly wish that you might come and share in our happiness. She will be married in the month of May, when the gardens will be in full bloom, and I hope, my dear, that you feel as I do in this wondrous news.

My Dearest Anna,

Oh, you would never believe the time I’ve had trying to reach you. It has been most vexing. I sent a letter to you previously, to inform you of my sister’s wondrous engagement, and to invite you to come and share our joy this May (for, you know, the flowers will be in full bloom then!) however, your intended letter was most discourteously returned to me with the very notion that you no longer live in your own house! Only my sister’s joyous nuptials prevent me from serious discontentment at this annoying nuisance. However, I hope that you and I shall soon be reunited and we shall together celebrate Mary’s walk down the aisle.

Expressing my apologies and sympathies on this subject is no easy matter to me, but I feel I must implore you to bear no ill will of me as of our accidental correspondence. I must persist in attempting to convince you that the intended recipient of your letters, an Anna, is no longer living here and explain that I have had no intentions of reading your private letters between yourself and your friend, one merely intends to read one’s own mail with one’s coffee and as your letter was addressed to my residence, I express sincere apologies for reading it by mistake. Please accept my sincere good wishes to your endeavors to reach your friend.

My house is to be bought by a young man of wonderful character, I have found to be most upright and intelligent. Best wishes with your sister’s wedding, and may I congratulate you upon your dedication through all adversity.
